Employee may contribute up to 25% of the annual pre-tax salary. SUMMARY: ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND/OR RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Develop product specifications with Design, Component, Mechanical, Purchasing and/or Manufacturing Staff at selected major accounts in assigned area in order to increase bookings, sales and profit margins to meet or exceed corporate goals. 2. Coordinate account activities, situations, problems and direction via communication with the Area/Region Sales Manager, and Sales Support Manager as required. 3. Provide liaison with AEC and the appropriate Engineering/Sales Groups for customer product design requirements to solve problems and ensure cost effective solutions and to keep apprised of the latest technology for emerging Industry Standards. 4. Develop an annual sales plan, which is to include sales forecast and strategies for the various electronic market segments to ensure our continued sales and bookings growth in conjunction with corporate goals. Submit plan to the Area Sales Manager by the middle of the last month in the fiscal year. 5. Report all competitive situations regarding pricing levels, new product developments, enhancements or technologies, etc., to Engineering, Sales Support and Area/Region Sales Manager. 6. Provide product and sales training, leadership and direction, joint sales calls and coordinate activities with Sales Representative Firm at Target Accounts in assigned area if one is appointed. Also may have specific account responsibility. 7. Develop a sales plan with strategies to increase new business with distribution network, in assigned area, provide product and sales training, inventory management for new and existing customers, joint sales calls, etc. Coordinate all sales program activities such as a sales incentive program, with the Distributor Sales Manager to meet or exceed corporate goals. 8. Make recommendations for sales representative and/or distribution changes in assigned area to ensure we are adequately represented in local electronics industry market segments. Prepare and submit to the Area Sales Manager annually a formal evaluation report analyzing the effectiveness of rep firm(s) and/or distributors in assigned area as relates to increasing sales and bookings. May assume responsibilities previously covered by manufacturer’s reps. 9. Develop sufficient PIE locations in assigned territory to ensure appropriate tooling is in place to provide adequate wire and cable assembly services to local existing and potential customers. Coordinate wire assembly designs and quotes to customers, assembly shops and/or distributors on all assemblies capable of being made in Waukegan on the BCD series fully automatic assembly machine. 10. Submit a weekly report on all major activities to the Area/Region Sales Manager on all major account projects with details on product (s) designed-in, value, timing and purchasing location. 11. Complete and submit Split Commission Forms(s) to Area/Region Sales Manager on all projects that leave or enter the assigned area whether within the U.S. or abroad to ensure proper Rep commission payments are made based on the design and sales booking efforts. Also may take over the selling responsibility previously handled by manufacturer’s representative. May be given direct sales responsibilities and must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills. 12. Complete and submit weekly expense reports to Area/Region Sales Manager in a timely manner. All expenditures must be for company related business only and are to be controlled in a most professional manner. 13. Complete and submit forms for new product and/or projects in a timely manner to the appropriate engineering/sales group, sales support staff and Region/Area Sales Manager along with any necessary follow up in order to ensure quick response to meet customer requirements and production schedules. 14. Help with collection of Accounts Receivable. EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: 1. A Bachelor’s Degree in engineering. 2. Minimum of four years’ experience, plus minimum 3-4 years outside sales experience in the electronics industry, and a background in connectors. WORK ENVIRONMENT: The Sales Engineer will work in a branch office or have an office in the home. The Sales Engineer must be a sufficient self-starter and need very little direction. An at-home office must provide a professional space that is away from the formal living area. The office will be fully equipped with phone service, fax, computer, modem, printer, etc. and supplied by the company for the maximum productivity and communications. Competitive compensation based on industry experience is provided along with car, expenses, and benefits package.
