Essential Job Functions Production Management 1 Confers with management to establish production and quality control standards to develop budget and cost controls, and to obtain data regarding types, quantities, specifications, and delivery dates of products ordered. 2 Coordinates production activities with procurement, maintenance, and quality control activities to obtain optimum production and utilization of human resources, machines, and equipment. 3 Develops and implements operating methods and procedures designed to eliminate operating problems and to improve product quality. 4 Sets up production machines and checks their calibration and settings; ensures that all machines and equipment are clean and working properly; checks fryer temperature, machine speed, etc. 5 Cleans and prepares the work area prior to starting operation. 6 Drives a forklift and brings materials from the warehouse to the production area. 7 Monitors and ensures machines run properly; reacts accordingly when any irregular situation or a problem arises. 8 Confers with other supervisors to coordinate activities of individual departments. 9 Coordinates with the Packaging Department regarding initiation and issues of operation. 10 Compiles, stores, and retrieves production data; prepares daily production log, quality control reports and other daily reports. Machine Maintenance 1 Observes and listens to operating machines or equipment to diagnose machine malfunctions and to determine need for adjustment or repair. 2 Studies blueprints, sketches, machine parts or specifications to determine type and dimensions of parts required and places order from the manufacturers. 3 Dismantles machines or equipment to examine parts for defects or to replace defective parts with new parts or performs other reparirs as needed. 4 Assembles and test operates machines to verify correction of malfunctions. 5 Periodically performs routine maintenance and testing of machines and equipment. 6 Maintains, lubricates and cleans machine tools and equipment. 7 Identifies potential causes of accidents and recommends changes in policies and procedures to prevent accidents. 8 Analyzes and identifies ineffective production operations procedures to improve operational efficiency and product quality; makes improvement personally or through vendors under direction of senior management.
